Honey bee crisis affects farmers in the almond industry

California’s almond orchards require honey bees to produce almonds, but due to failing honey bee colonies, the beekeepers are unable to provide enough bees. According to the Wall Street Journal, Only 25% of the necessary bees are available, putting almond crops in jeopardy.


Reasons for colony failure are not fully understood, and farmers are calling upon the government to investigate the honey bee crisis.
